Shine a black light or UV light onto the affected area to find out how large of a radius the urine has soaked into the carpet. The urine will fluoresce under the light.
If the urine is still wet, soak up as much of the urine as possible with a wet vacuum or with paper towels. If the urine has dried, pour a glass of water on the urine to reactivate it, and then soak up as must as possible.
Use Ready-To-Use OdorXit Eliminator or prepare OdorXit Eliminator by mixing one ounce of concentrate with 32 ounces of water. Adding a carpet shampoo containing a surfactant (3oz shampoo to 1oz concentrate to 32oz water) can help Eliminator absorb deeper and faster into the carpet for really troublesome areas.
Pour OdorXit Eliminator slowly on different parts of the urine spots on the carpet. Attempt to reenact the urinating that took place with Eliminator. Don't saturate the carpet. Pour just enough solution to get to all of the urine. And remember, there is a wider area of urine on the back of the carpet that you can’t see so apply the solution to a bigger area than is visible on the top. Allow the area to dry and your odor is solved!
If you mix OdorXit with surfactant to reach deeper into the carpet, the solution will only be useful for 24 hours. Only mix up the amount you will use in that amount of time as it will eventually diminish the effectiveness of OdorXit.
