Today Hooch, our 2 year old puggle, Deb, by wife and I were returning from a 2 hour training session which consisted mostly Karen, the trainer, trying to train Deb and me to give consistent and clear signals to the dog.
On our way home from the training session we stopped at PS super store to pick up some Bitter Apple and a couple of chew toys that he couldn’t destroy and swallow.
As it happened, the Bitter Apple was in the same area as the 4 or 5 brands of odor control products being offered. There was a very nice lady standing in front of the display next to me and it was very apparent that she was trying to decide what to buy next for her odor problem.
After petting Hooch, she looked at me and asked “Do any of these products really work?” To which I answered “Not Really”. Then she asked “Why are they here?” to which I answered “These companies are big enough to demand net 30 payment for their products or they can tolerate net 120 payment.” A questioning look came over her face and she asked me “How do you know this?” To which I answered “I have odor control products that really works. When I offered it to PS the corporate buyer was very defendant on the net 120 payment schedule. So I told here that when you finally come to me for a product that really works, it will be cash only.” The buyer hung up on me. I handed a business card to the lady and continued shopping.
The reason I bring this to your attention is that big pet stores and big hardware stores are trying to get their suppliers to act as a banker. Well, for the most part my company has to pay cash for what I buy and I have no desire to be a banker for PS or HD or L’s.
