Smoke Odor

Just wanted to let you all know that we at OdorXit are pretty much like the rest of you. We have good days and bad days, good luck and bad luck, and some times the god watches over us and saves us from ourselves.

Monday, September 1, 2009 at about 7:30 PM I left our house for the local WalMart to pick up a prescription and some munchies with my trusty cell phone in hand. The pharmacy did not have the drug that was ordered in stock but the store across town did so I called my wife to tell here I would be later than expected. When she answered her cell, I could only understand that she wanted me to return home immediately, so I returned home.

As I am driving up my street I noticed that the street was blocked with fire trucks and hoses right in front of my house. Further there was a lot of smoke pouring out of the ridge vents on the roof and there were 2 firemen standing on the roof with a chain saw cutting a hole to release the smoke faster.

The interior of my garage was totally black from smoke and fire. All of my OdorXit Stock that was neatly stacked on the shelving was melted and leaking. The 55 gallon drums of bulk stock that were placed near the garage door seemed to be un-damaged but the ones that were closest to the origin of the fire were very melted and the contents ruined.

As the firemen finished their work the extent of the damage became clearer. The realization that my income source had been seriously damaged was sinking in.

The upside was that the fire was completely contained inside the attached garage and only a very small amount of smoke had actually entered the living space of my house.  Fast action by my wife and a neighbor (who is a volunteer fireman) and the Fairfield Township Fire Department had saved my house and businesses from what would have been total destruction.

Even tough the smoke damage to the interior of my house was relative minor, the electric had been cut off at the street so there was no lights, fans or refrigeration! Our neighbors insisted that we stay with them until we got the power turned back on and the smoke under control which we accepted.

The next day the cleanup started with ordering the first of 2 30 cubic yard dumpsters and finding people to help with the cleanup. Because of the 55 gallon drums of product (chemicals) the state EPA was called in to make sure that the local environment was not being harmed. MSDS documents were passed out and the people to handle disposal were called. $665 later, all the fire damaged chemicals were gone and we appeared to be right with the world.

Got the new drywall delivered on Sept 12, and it only took 3 days to hang, tape, mud and sand it. Got hold of our painter Larry and in 2.5 hours on Saturday the 19th the garage was primed and painted to perfection. So I could begin repopulating the garage with all the stuff we did not throw out.

Repopulating the garage is a long and difficult task. Removing the rust from everything is even more time consuming.

Sept 14 we received our shipments of OdorXit Concentrate and Magic and started bottling at a friends garage.  Lots of buyers will be getting product real soon.
