Removing Ammonia Odors at its Source

Removing Ammonia odor with OdorXit Products is almost always centered on the ammonia that is produced by decomposing urine. This urine is usually in a cat box, carpeting, flooring, concrete, clothing, furniture upholstery and other materials that are likely to be urinated on by incontinent people or ill behaved or sick pets.

The ammonia gas associated with urine contamination is produced as a result of the decomposition of uric acid that is in all urine. As the water evaporated from the raw urine, the uric acid concentration gets higher and higher in the water that is left. This naturally unstable organic acid then decomposes into urea salt and the ammonia gas.

WARNING! The ammonia gas produced by evaporating urine is the same as the ammonia you smell from a bottle of ammonia. If this gas mixes with the gas given off by chlorine bleach, poisonous pure chlorine gas (Cl₂) is produced in sufficient quantities to burn you eyes, nose and lungs and possibility send you to the hospital with respiratory arrest and difficulty breathing. OdorXit Concentrate and Magic have no chlorine bleach or other components that will product dangerous gases when mixed with urine or ammonia.

OdorXit Magic sprayed onto the contaminated area will absorb the ammonia gas for several days per application or until all the uric acid has decomposed.
